The Macon County Fair was held last week, Sept. 18-21, at the Wayne Proffitt Agricultural Center in Franklin. As one of the last agricultural fairs in the state, the event celebrated “Bringing the Harvest Home” with exhibits and educational booths reflecting the theme.
School students submitted artwork, quilters showed off their skills, and gardeners bought their best canned goods and preserves in hopes of being awarded a blue ribbon. Farmers young and old showed their best calves, hogs, goats, and chickens. On the last day of the fair, equestrians competed in the Macon County Horse Association Show.
