Buncombe, Yancey, and Watauga counties are in need of volunteers to assist in the repair and rebuilding of homes affected by last September’s devastating Hurricane Helene. Initially, Samaritan’s Purse, based in Boone, N.C., involved thousands of volunteers in feeding, housing, and cleanup efforts of the numerous individuals in Western North Carolina impacted by flooding, mudslides, and downed trees. However, rebuilding projects are underway.

No experience is needed, but anyone who has experience in home repairs, construction, plumbing, electric, etc., can play a vital role in putting people back into homes.

Samaritan’s Purse is asking for volunteers to commit to a minimum of one week (maximum two weeks) in order to be involved in one of their many projects. Volunteers can sign up as a team or as an individual. Samaritan’s Purse will house and feed volunteers at area churches. Typically, volunteers need to bring an inflatable mattress or a cot to sleep on.

Assistance to bring about positive, life-altering changes for people affected by Helene is expected to be needed for at least another year.

And we know that to them that love God all things work together for good, even to them that are called according to his purpose.
