Moore Nursing scholarship awarded

Anne Hyder, scholarship administrator for the Judy Moore Memorial Scholarship Endowment has announced the 2025 recipient selected for the Nursing Scholarship, established in memory of Judy Moore R.N.

This year’s scholarship has been awarded to Christopher Foradada. His career plans are to continue his studies in the Southwestern Community College Nursing Program and then become a registered nurse on the acute floor at Angel Medical Center. He plans to continue his education by obtaining his bachelor’s degree through Galen College, located in Asheville.

Moore was a nurse who practiced primarily in the field of Public Health in Macon County. A scholarship was established in her memory in 1997 by her friends and the Macon County Board of Health, with affiliation with the N.C. Community Foundation.

The initial award was issued in 1998, and since that time 47 awards have been issued totaling $50,830.
