An estimated 400 people crowded around Franklin’s gazebo on Main Street the evening of Saturday, Sept. 18, for a peaceful gathering focused on faith and patriotism.
The Franklin community joined tens of thousands of Americans across the country in mourning the death of Turning Point founder Charlie Kirk, and his lifelong call for this country to turn back to God.
Twelve pastors from Christian denomination churches in Macon County shared scriptures and prayers along with comments about Kirk, who was assassinated Sept. 10. Those gathered were led in worship by musicians, and they faced the courthouse’s American flag for the reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance and the singing of the Star-Spangled Banner. Candles and American flags were handed out.
