For much of the county, Saturday was just another summer afternoon, but for a large crowd that ventured downtown, it was all fun and games.
The signs were right for a successful first annual Franklin Family Fun Day. Temperatures were mild, and there was only a splash of rain just after lunch. Throughout the afternoon, Town Square was bristling with excitement.
There were games, face painting, a communal art project, a bounce house, a very popular dunk tank and more.
Snacks include hot dogs and sweets like donuts, shaved ice and ice cream.
Speaking of the dunk tank, “victims” included Caleb Peters, owner of the local Chick-fil-A (above), Dan “the Donut Man” Murphy, owner of Not Just Donuts, and Sheriff Brent Holbrooks (below).
Organizers Murphy and Nicole Vachon, owner of Doodlebugs on Main Street, were pleasantly surprised by the turnout. They guaranteed a return of the event for next year.
Here’s a few sights from the first Franklin Family Fun Day.
