Another 80’s Flashback Weekend has come and gone with a massive splash.
Over the course of Friday and Saturday, thousands of locals and visitors flocked downtown for music, food, beverages and dancing.
So much dancing.
But, like so many events in Macon County, it is more than music and good times. There is a serious side to the Flashback.
A benefit for children in need
The goal of this 12th annual event is, as always, a “good time for a great cause”. The 80’s Flashback benefits Shriners Children’s Hospital in Greenville, which has helped many kids from Macon.

On Friday night, Brandon Noblitt (top left), a Shriners International Patient Ambassador, told his story to the applause and well-wishes of a large and appreciative crowd.
Local band Low Tide (above and below) broke out their 80’s set list.
Hope Banks (below left), newly-crowned Miss 1980 Something 2026, never stopped raising money for the kids, and (below right) the crowd was primed for Friday evening’s headliner
Back in Time, a Huey Lewis & the News tribute band, jammed into the night (below).
The big night
Saturday really got going with the annual parade and the main event with 80z Nation.
Above, the crowd was amped for the parade. Countryside Chevrolet rolled past in the blue pickup, as did many marching groups and local organizations, even Renee’s Cake Shoppe had a group participating.
The Franklin High Class of ’81 marched (above left) and ZZ Top by The Wannabes closed out the parade (above right and below).
And finally, 80z Nation hit the stage again this year with a large crowd ready to dance. Thanks to State Sen. Kevin Corbin for providing the images below.
