If you’ve driven through downtown Franklin recently, you probably noticed activity at 26 W. Main Street. The once empty, former Macon County News building is about to breathe new life.
The work is all part of preparing for the arrival of Jack the Dipper, a “new” ice cream shop soon to call historic Main Street home.
Once located next to The Factory, the shop will join other ice cream vendors on Main St. such as the Crabtree General Store and Renee’s Cake Shoppe.
Owned locally by Hunter Furlow, Jack the Dipper features 36 premium hand-dipped ice cream flavors, fresh waffle cones made to order in vanilla, cinnamon, and chocolate, handcrafted milkshakes, banana splits, sundaes, floats, and Pup Cups for four-legged visitors.
“We’ve had a lot of people stop by and ask what’s going in the building,” said Furlow. “We’re excited to finally share that it’s going to be Jack the Dipper. We can’t wait to welcome the community once everything is ready.”
According a press release, the shop is being thoughtfully prepared inside one of Franklin’s historic Main Street buildings with the goal of creating a clean, welcoming place where families, friends, and visitors can enjoy great ice cream together.
While an official opening date has not yet been announced, progress continues each week. The owners expect to share updates as they move closer to opening.
