Do you have a library book that is overdue? Maybe you turned it in, but still have those overdue fines on your account? You can wipe out those fines, and help your neighbors, at any Fontana Regional Library location.

Simply donate an unexpired canned or boxed non-perishable food item this October.

Of course, all overdue books must be returned in undamaged, “shelf-ready” condition to be eligible for complete overdue fine forgiveness.

For those wishing to reestablish borrowing privileges and full access to resources, this is a special opportunity.

Food collected will be distributed to the Bryson City Food Pantry and the Macon County Food Council, which coordinates with local food banks, little free food pantries and community nonprofits providing hot meals for individuals and families.

  • Suggested items include: boxed meals, peanut butter, cereal, canned goods, pasta, low sodium and gluten free products.
  • Items not accepted: expired or damaged items, glass containers, open packages.

The public library provides resources and opportunities for growth, success, and community engagement every day, and when budgets are tight, these resources can make a huge difference.

The Fontana Regional Library serves Macon, and Swain counties with a mission to help meet patrons’ educational, informational, and recreational needs. Visit fontanalib.org for more information.
