When it comes to lifetime investments, $1,000 dollars may not sound like much to a lot of people, but over time, it can be big seed money and a powerful learning tool for families.

Through the magic of compound interest and low risk investments, a child enrolled today in the new Trump Accounts can have a sizable savings portfolio by the time they are 18 years old.

Trump Accounts officially launched July 4 with the intention to encourage parents of babies born between January 1, 2025 and December 31, 2028 to apply for savings accounts where the U.S. Treasury would deposit the initial $1,000 dollar seed money. Additionally, these accounts are for ANY child that has not yet turned 18 and has a valid Social Security number.

It’s more than money – it is an opportunity to introduce entire families to the discipline of saving, restoring the idea of prosperity being built over time. Like the values of hard work, patience and foresight, all of these combined can create a generational ripple effect that will teach stability and that wealth is not accidental.

Grandparents can pass on the wisdom of resources, and they can also contribute to the child’s account. With additional donations, and capturing long term market growth, by the age of 18, the child would have inherited a financial asset that could help with higher education, a first home, a car.

Employers, charities and philanthropic companies are also joining the cause by donating to these accounts, with emphasis on assisting lower income families to participate. Major private donors are Michael and Susan Dell as well as SpaceX and many others listed on the website are contributing to children and their future success.

Forget the politics of who launched this program, focus on the benefits of who benefits. Your children and your grandchildren will be grateful.
