Richard “Dick” Mansfield Zeek: 1931 - 2026

Richard "Dick" Mansfield Zeek, age 95, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at Angel Medical Center.

Born in New York City, New York, on April 4th, 1931. Dick was the beloved son of the late Donald and Marion (Nochbur) Zeek. A man of integrity, intellect, and faith, he was a devoted member of the Methodist church throughout his life. Dick proudly served his country in the United States Army before embarking on a distinguished academic and professional journey.

He earned his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Texas A&M University and went on to complete his master’s degree at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. His brilliant mind and problem-solving talents led to a long and successful career with General Motors, where he served for many years and earned numerous prestigious accolades and awards for his innovative engineering designs.

Beyond his professional success, Dick was defined by his lifelong passion for aviation. A skilled private pilot, he loved nothing more than taking the skies. When he wasn't in the cockpit, he could often be found at his workbench meticulously building model airplanes, a hobby that combined his love for flight with his sharp engineering precision.

Above all, Dick was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Velma Zeek; his four children, Susan Ann Fleischer-Zeek, Andrew William Zeek (Peg Jones), Elizabeth Ann Zeek, and James Theodore Zeek (Suchada); his sister-in-law, Myrtle Zeek; and his two cherished grandchildren, Christina and Brian Zeek.

In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his brother, Douglas Zeek, and his sister, Marilyn Zeek.

At this time there was no formal services planned for Mr. Zeek.
