Doris Annette Giles Carpenter,: 1943 - 2026

Doris Annette Giles Carpenter, age 82, passed away peacefully at her residence on Saturday, August 15, 2026.

Raised in Macon County, she was born on October 9, 1943, to the late Ben and Pearl Hurst Giles. Doris found great joy in the simple pleasures of life, most notably tending to her vibrant flower beds and working in her garden.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Pearl Giles; her devoted husband, James William Carpenter, who passed in 2025; her daughter, Celia Diane Carpenter; her grandson, Cy Levi Fouts; her brother, Ed "Lefty" Giles; and her sister, Kay Osmond.

Doris leaves behind a loving family who will cherish her memory. She is survived by her two sons, Tracy Carpenter (Janice) and Kevin "Bo" Carpenter (Lynn); six siblings, Carolyn Giles, James Elmer Giles, Brenda Ansley, Ron Giles (Patti), Bruce Giles (Mickie), and Mike Giles (Virginia); five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family also extends deep appreciation to her special caretaker, Sandra Shepard, for her loving support.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at Woodlawn Cemetery, with Reverend Don Moffitt officiating.

The family expresses their sincere gratitude to the compassionate staff of Four Seasons Hospice for the tender care given to Mrs. Carpenter during her final days.
