Thomas “Thad” Holden

Thomas “Thad” Holden: 1946 - 2026

Mr. Thomas "Thad" Holden, 80, passed away Tuesday, August 18, 2026. He was born January 7, 1946, in Macon Co., NC to the late William and Bertha Woods Holden.

Thad was a long-standing member of Coweeta Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School. He retired from the C-Mex Company. He drove a tractor trailer from coast to coast. Thad liked to garden and the outdoors, as well as family gatherings and dinners on Sundays. He loved television, his grandchildren, and talking to his siblings.

He is survived by his wife, Celia M. Holden; his children, Shelly Barrett, Daniel Baldwin, and Stephanie Holden Ledford; his grandchildren, Josh Barrett, Callie Baldwin, Isaiah Baldwin, Brady Baldwin, and Holden Robinson; his great grandchildren, Ellis Barrett and Harlan Barrett; as well as his siblings, Lonnie Holden, Fannie Furness, Cora Shope, and Hattie Young.

In addition to his parents, "Thad" was preceded in death by his son, William Trevor Holden; and his siblings, Jo Ann Bell, Andy Holden, Melvin Holden, and Ralph Holden.

A funeral service will be held Friday, August 21, 2026, at 3:00 PM in The Grant Chapel of Bryant-Grant Funeral Home with the Rev. Vic Greene and Rev. Bobby Crawford officiating. Burial will follow the service in the Coweeta Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 - 3:00 PM prior to the service in the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Brud Talley, Josh Barrett, Louie Talley, Clay Talley, Tony Norris, and Greg Bell. Honorary pallbearers will be Ron DeHart, Jimmy Green, Sammy Seagle, and Mike Sutton.

The family would like to thank the staff of Eckerd Living Center and Four Seasons Hospice. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Coweeta Baptist Church.
