William “Billy Joe”Joseph Waldroop: 1956 - 2026

Mr. William "Billy Joe"Joseph Waldroop, 70, of Hayesville, NC passed away on Saturday, September 5, 2026.

Billy Joe was born in Macon, Co. NC to the late George Gilmer Waldroop and Betty Conly Waldroop on January 13, 1956.

He worked and retired from Ingles Grocery store by starting out in Franklin and retiring as store manager in the Hayesville, NC store.

Billy Joe had a great love for his grandchildren. He help raise and care for a lot of children and people in his lifetime. He always had a Sunday meal planned and all were welcome to come and eat. He was raised on Southern Democratic ground. He loved sports especially Motor Cross racing. He loved Port St. Joe Mexico Beach, Florida as his second home. Billy Joe loved the gulf and the people at the gulf.

Survivors include his children, Joseph Waldroop, Trace Waldroop, LeighAnn Waldroop, and Jared Moore; five grandchildren, Taylor Waldroop, Copper Waldroop, Braxton Cherry, Maci Cherry, and Saylor Waldroop; sister, Rebecca Hoilman; and many other children he raised and cared for.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, September 12, 2026, from 4:00-8:00 PM at the Camp 64 Pavilion, 6658 Hay 64 Hayesville, NC 28904.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the family to help cover funeral cost.
