Three local musicians will share “An Evening of Music” in the St. Agnes Chapel on Sunday, July 26, at 6:30pm. “The proceeds of the concert will be donated to Smoky Mountain Harm Reduction,” according to the All Saints Episcopal Church Outreach Coordinator, Mary Guercio. “They are located at 3261 Georgia Road.”
Admission to the concert is $15 at the door; registration only in advance is requested using the QR code on the All Saints Episcopal Church website.Payment will be accepted at the door (allsaintsfranklin.org).
The performers are Diana New, Jamie Rasso and Brian Van Fleet.
New is a Full time instructor of English Studies at WCU and a part-time singer and songwriter. She plays with influences from Bob Dylan, Cat Stevens and Jim Croce.
Rasso has spent 22 years performing solo and with numerous bands.
Having settled in Franklin, he also plays with Grizzly Mammoth and Alton Lane. From Classical music to the more traditional blues and jazz, experimental progressive rock, his tastes span many genres.
Keyboardist Van Fleet has traveled extensively, experiencing different cultures and life, thus acquiring an admiration of world music and its fusions. He says that he hopes “you will appreciate this piece of his peace of mind.”
Following the concert, the church will host a light reception outdoors in The Arbor which is on the opposite side of the church office. In the event of rain, the reception will move indoors to the St. Agnes Parish Hall, located directly behind the sanctuary. The reception is sponsored by the local Slanted Window Tasting Station.
Fr. E.R. Haire, Jr., PhD, Priest-in-Charge, is delighted to bring this local talent to perform at All Saints and to support this local non-profit. “Outreach is the missional part of any church. or should be. We are called to be compassionate and caring not just with our words but with our deeds and to loving our neighbors as we love ourselves as Christ taught us.
“Our outreach coordinator, Mary, chose this charity to support this endeavor. Smoky Mountain Harm Reduction seemed like a good choice. It’s a non profit that deals with harm reduction, prevention, treatment and recovery. It works in tandem with a peer counseling service which seems vital. This is an area of need and we are happy to help.”
Fr. Haire continued, “The acoustics of the church should be great for a live performance. We are delighted to offer them a different venue to play in and share their gifts of music.”
