The Friends of the Macon County Public Library will host a Books & Bites event on Tuesday, September 29 at 6 pm with local author Anna Mercier.
Mercier is a former Macon County Public Library staff member and former Macon County school teacher, and All We Hunger For is Mercier’s first published novel. The Friends of the Macon County Public Library will provide light refreshments, and Mercier will share insights into her fascinating story and the characters she has brought to life, as well as sign copies of her book. City Lights Bookstore will be on hand with copies for purchase.
Her book, All We Hunger For, was released on June 23, 2026 and was a Goodreads’ Most Anticipated Book of 2026, as well as an Amazon Best Book of the Month.
It has also garnered glowing reviews from major publishing industry journals including Booklist, Publisher’s Weekly, and School Library Journal. Though her story, a high-stakes political fantasy blended with a magical baking competition, is targeted for teen audiences, adult fans of both romance, fantasy and baking competitions will find many things to enjoy and keep them on the edge of their seats.
For those interested in a truly immersive experience, a free “tiny cake” decorating library program for teens and adult will commence at 4:30 PM, prior to the Books & Bites author event. Participants interested in competing for a prize can submit their decorated tiny cakes for judgement by Anna. Space is limited, so register for a spot today in the Tiny Cake Decorating program by calling the MCPL Reference Desk at 828-524-3600.
