Alexander Leroy “Pops” Pressley: 1948 - 2026

Alexander Leroy “Pops” Pressley, age 77, of Franklin, NC, passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Alexander was born in Jackson County to the late Dexter Pressley and Isiebell Passmore Pressley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Sarah Linda Pressley, and his nephew, Allen Hopkins.

Affectionately known as “Pops,” Alexander never met a stranger. He was a man who loved conversation and could talk to anyone he met throughout Macon County. He was a fisherman at heart, enjoyed fixing and repairing small equipment, and spent many happy hours yard saling with his sister Dicie, a favorite pastime he truly cherished. He also enjoyed listening to his scanner, watching westerns, listening to bluegrass music, and dipping his snuff.

Above all else, Alexander’s greatest joy was spending time with his family—especially loving on his grandbabies. His devotion to his family was the most important part of his life, and his warmth, humor, and steady presence will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Juanita Ammons Pressley; his children, Steve Pressley (Melissa), Kevin Pressley (Marlana), Shanda Dendy (Shane), and Kenneth Pressley (Kimberly); his sister, Dicie Hopkins; his sister in law, Virginia Franks; his brother in law, Drew Ammons; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and two nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 25th from 10-11am at Macon Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will follow at 11am in the Chapel. Rev. Robert Dryman and Rev. Mark Bishop will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Macon Funeral Home.
