Charles Ricky Shope: 1966 - 2026

Charles Ricky Shope, age 59, of Franklin, North Carolina, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, June 5, 2026.

Ricky was born in Rabun County, Georgia, and later made his home in Franklin. He was a kind and caring man who found great joy in helping others, especially his family and children. Ricky had a deep love for animals, particularly dogs and horses—and his compassionate nature showed in the way he cared for them.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Kent and Jo Ann Shope, and his biological father, Howard Zeke Carpenter.

Ricky is survived by his biological mother, Thelma Thomas Carpenter; his siblings, Tim Carpenter (Crystal), Gloria Cabe (Mitchell), Jerry Shope (Rohnda), and Laura Holland (Joel); as well as many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. He also leaves behind his beloved dog, Stella, who was a special companion in his life.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Macon Funeral Home.

Ricky will be remembered for his kind heart, his love of family, and the joy he brought to those who knew him.
