Doyle Ronald Woods: 1944 - 2026

Doyle Ronald Woods, 82, of Franklin, North Carolina, passed away on Thursday, July 16, 2026.

A lifelong resident of Macon County, Doyle was born to the late Earl Woods and Mildred Rogers Woods. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Rex Woods.

Doyle dedicated many years of service as the manager of Freeman Gas before his retirement. He was known for his strong work ethic, kindness, and commitment to serving others. A faithful member of Cullasaja Assembly of God, Doyle loved his church family and faithfully served in numerous leadership and volunteer positions throughout the years. Some of those positions included Sunday School Superintendent for 21 years and Advisory Board member for 24 years. His faith was central to his life, and he sought to be a blessing to those around him.

Above all, Doyle cherished his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Sarah Berry Woods; his son, Ronald Woods and wife, Sheila; sisters and brothers, Helen Bolick, Gerald Woods and wife, Sandy, Royce Woods and wife, Zee, and Debbie Jenkins and husband, David; sister-in law, Margaret Woods, widow of Rex Woods; six grandchildren, Wesley, Brad, Adam(Kayla), Aiden, Aliyah, and Adrianna; six great-grandchildren, Bella, Riley, Raelynn, Guage, Briar, and Liam; and several nieces and nephews, all of whom will treasure his memory.

Doyle will be remembered for his unwavering faith, devotion to his family, and the kindness he showed to everyone he met. His legacy of love and service will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him. The family and friends who loved Doyle will miss him dearly but find comfort in the lasting memories he leaves behind.

The family will receive friends, Sunday, July 26th, at Cullasaja Assembly of God from 2-4pm, with a funeral service at 4pm. Rev. Marcus Larey, Rev. Rick Potts, and Rev. Randall Rogers will officiate. Burial will follow at Higdonville Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Gerald Woods, Royce Woods, Colton Woods, Adam Stewart, Aiden Stewart, Mark Berry, Mike Henry, and Danny Bishop. Honorary pallbearers will be Warren Henry, Andy Berry, Tom Berry, Dylan O’Donahue, Danny Berry, and Gary Phillips.

The family wishes to thank Eckerd Living Center, Highlands Cashiers Hospital, and Four Seasons Hospice for their exceptional care and compassion they provided during his illness.
